As a child, what did you want to become when you grew up?
Back when I was a child, I always wanted to be an archaeologist. Hollywood had already given me the impression from childhood that the profession of an archaeologist consists only of adventures and the fight against evil. But at some point I understood that the day-to-day work of an archaeologist is very different. In the end, I decided to study economics, but I kept archaeology as a rewarding hobby.
What was your personal path to become a seed investor?
As a student, I came across VC as we discussed financing possibilities for startups as a part of my entrepreneurship deepening. I was immediately fascinated by the topic, which led me to write seminar papers and participate in the business plan competition, and which also led to my diploma exam on the decision-making behavior of VC's. During my studies, I managed to get one of the coveted internship positions at IBB Ventures, which was the key to my career.
What is most important to you when you look at a new company?
Besides the product, market and growth potential, there are other important aspects for me. However, the team is always the most decisive factor for me. Ideally, it should be made up of experienced, strong founders who are on fire for their startup and are willing to stick together and support each other, even in difficult times. Even the best product can hardly be successfully marketed under the guidance of weak teams. With an excellent team, on the other hand, you can create a promising product even from a formerly bad one.
